Ankeny, IA – Hubbell Realty Company has announced a new 162-unit apartment community in Ankeny called Siena Crossing.
The Class-A project will sit on a 7-acre site along Oralabor Road and Ankeny Boulevard, adjacent to the growing Prairie Trail District and DMACC campus. The community will cost an estimated $27 million and will begin construction in Spring 2025.
“As we looked to expand our multifamily footprint, it became clear there was a great opportunity in Ankeny near DMACC to provide rental housing for both prospective students and residents alike,” said Matt Weller, Vice President of Development with Hubbell. “This apartment community could not be more centrally located for convenience and access to Ankeny amenities.”
Siena Crossing will have a variety of 1-, 2- and three-bedroom apartment homes as well as community amenities like a pool, clubhouse, fitness center, dog park and fire pit green spaces.
“It’s paramount that we as a community have housing options for everyone at every stage in their life and we are excited to see Hubbell continue to invest in Ankeny and provide diverse housing choices for individuals and families who choose to live in Ankeny,” said Derek Lord, Economic Development Director with the City of Ankeny.
Ankeny is one of the fastest growing suburbs in the nation and DMACC also saw a 13% enrollment surge in 2023-2024, the highest among Iowa’s community colleges. Both Ankeny and DMACC have plans to expand on campus – DMACC's $17 million dental assistant and hygiene program facility and Ankeny Community School District’s “innovative hub”.
According to Hubbell’s research, Ankeny has delivered roughly 216 apartment homes in 2024, meanwhile areas like Waukee and West Des Moines have delivered over 900 and 470 apartments, respectively.
