Hubbell Realty Co. plans to convert a nearly century-old warehouse on the west end of downtown Des Moines into 26 residential lofts.
The $6.5 million project will transform the Lovejoy Building that was once home to the Mack Truck company, and is near a strip of Locust Street once called "Auto Row" because of the auto dealerships located there.
Kris Saddoris, Hubbell's vice president of development, said the company aims to preserve much of the original architectural elements so that each loft "tells the story" of the building's history.
